I started working at Access Services Department at Patrick Power Library on September 2023. I am part of circulation assistants who provide front-line service for library patrons as well as working within the stacks.

2.Student Assistant at Patrick Power Library.

My duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Providing excellent customer service experience to residents and guests in the residence complex.

  • Using C-Cure to manage access cards and monitor residence doors security.

  • Performing patrols around the residence to ensure the safe security of students.

  • Monitoring the CCTV cameras and retrieving video files if needed using the Generic Video Footage System.

  • Entering work orders through Que Center to the facilities department.

3.Residence Service Officer.

I started working at the Residence Department here at Saint Mary's university on September 2023. I am of student security team under the supervision of the Assistant Director, Residence Services.

My duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Using Alma Ex Libris to update IDs, loan books to patrons, and sign them back.

  • Addressing basic issues and helping users resolve problems related to library resources.

  • Aiding users in locating resources and navigating library databases.

  • Using LibAnsswers to monitor complaints from patrons in case of noises, incidents, etc.

  • Doing stack duties including shelve reading, micro-shifting, double discharge, book drops...

Projects

SMUPal AI Chatbot

An AI chatbot a.k.a SMUPal that is designed to enhance student engagement, university life and well-being for students at Saint Marys's University. This chatbot is powered by IBM WatsonX Orchestrate and is built on top Llama 3.1 LLM.

Prototyped a soccer-playing robot using C++ programming language. The robot has versatile controls that can be attained through both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. The Dabble mobile app served as the interface for real-time control, ensuring seamless communication with the robot's ESP32 chip onboard.

3D Urban Pursuit Game.

Built a 3D game that runs on the Unity Engine using C#. Urban Pursuit is an action game that mainly involves parkour movements and a lot of other thrilling actions. The game is best designed for Windows PC/Desktops.

Volunteering Experienece

I have been SMU WUSC local committee member since September 2022. My key responsibilities included;

  • Organizing events and activities that promote diversity and inclusion.

  • Helping the new SRP student to settle in Canada.

  • participating in WUSC leadership activities or training.

  • Attending WUSC-related meetings, training, or activities.

  • Taking part in fundraising events that sponsor refugee students to Canada.

I was a pack leader in Fall 2023 at Saint Mary's University. Pack Leaders are volunteers that help welcome and orient new students as they settle at their new home. Key responsibilities;

  • Attending and actively participating in Student Leader Training.

  • Guide students throughout Welcome Weeks and answer fundamental questions about Saint Mary’s student services, facilities, opportunities, and activities.

  • Helping to run events (e.g., facilitating icebreakers, small group activities, set-up and take down).

  • Create an inclusive and welcoming community for all new students.

From February 8th to 10th, 2024, I had the privilege of attending the Annual International Forum organized by the World University Service of Canada (WUSC). This prestigious event took place in the heart of Ottawa, at the Shawn Centre, bringing together individuals from around the world who are passionate about global development and social change.

The forum ran for three days and explored diverse perspectives on the future of the Sustainable Development Goals. Below are key highlights for the days.

Day 1: Opening Ceremony and Keynote Addresses

The forum kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony that set the tone for the days ahead. Representatives from various WUSC programs and partner organizations shared inspiring stories of impact and empowerment. One of the key takeaways from the opening day was the emphasis on collaboration and the power of partnerships. WUSC's commitment to working with local communities, governments, and NGOs underscored the importance of collective efforts in addressing global challenges.

Day 2: Panel Discussions and Workshops

The second day of the forum was filled with thought-provoking panel discussions and interactive workshops. Sessions covered a wide array of topics, including gender equality, Quality education in a rapidly changing world, refugee rights, and Through My Eyes: Art for Development—Exhibition Launch.

Day 3: WUSC's Annual General Assembly (AGA)
WUSC members and delegates from across the country attend this important annual business meeting which is conducted in both official languages. The WUSC’s Board of Directors and Executive Director will share important WUSC updates. Registered members will vote afterwards. After that Local Committee trainings commence.
